Demon Lord
At least 2 higher than the average level of the table I'm DMing.
Thaumaturge.
So a challenging encounter, but not "Killer DM" territory?

This got me wondering... are there alternative ("planescape") names of various celestials or fiends mentioned (apart from yugoloths or gehreleths, that is), such as baatezu or tanar'ri, barbazu, osyluth, gelugon, etc.
And does it mention Blood War?
I don't remember these questions being asked before... if they have, I apologise![]()
Thanks.
Other than combat size, the MM says se the PH(B) for further info on sizes, which doesn't appear to have anything on creatures larger than medium.
Thaumaturge.
No mentions of the Blood War that I see, though they talk about archdevils mustering forces and demons conscripting souls and the like.
That would have really helped when they made the 5e tiefling exactly like the 4e tiefling.
There's a lot in 5e that I'm totally cool with and happy to see, but a few things like that just stick out as genuinely bizarre decisions when it would have been trifling to include 2e/3e tieflings in all their fiend-blooded diversity.
Wait for the DMG. I think a lot of questions will be answered when that shows up.
