Notice the boxes have a release date of 9/16 and not 9/30 as originally announced.
It's a pretty damn good PR idea to aim for a later date and release early, instead of the other way around. Could you imagine how badly the internet fans would react to a late book release? They'd be calling for heads to roll and how bad 5th edition has fell from prior editions.
Giving Mearls, who appears to be just a stand-up guy with his head on straight, the reins to D&D, was the best idea Wizards has had in some time.
So this means people are getting their Monster Manuals right now! I can't wait for THAT discussion thread. It may just top the PHB thread with requests.
