how can i make a fighter troll for examble.

Is this system ok?

Troll has, say cr of 5
you add one level of fighter to it.
So it gets more hit points, feats, saves etc....
And cr goes up to one. so the trolls cr is now 6.
If i add second level more, then the cr would brobably be 7.
So is this correct?

By the way, my mother language isn´t english so please
be patient. thx

As long as you add class levels that combine well with a monster, its CR goes up by 1 per class level. If you were to add Wizard levels to a troll, it would take 2 wizard levels to increase the trolls CR by 1.

so, if my party encounters one evil cleric lvl 10. His cr is 10 then?
And if that same human is 10 level wizard, its cr is only 5?

No, they are both CR 10, since a human is (potentially) good at everything.

A troll is good at smashing things with their high physical stats, but not very well suited to intellectual tasks. So levels of fighter fit a troll well, while levels of wizard don't really suit him. Does that make sense to you?

The rule of adding 1 or 1/2 based on how useful the class is for the monster won't go all the way: A troll (CR5) fighter 50 is CR 55, but a troll wizard 50 is *not* CR 30. When these class levels get equal to the monster HD, it becomes 1/1 instead of 1/2. So You'd add 6 levels of wizard to that troll, getting CR 8, and then add 44 further levels, arriving at CR 52.

That's because when you have more levels in that class than you have monster HD, the class is actually more important to your overall prowess than your hd.
