You could have slapped "First time in 3.5" for ophidians too, since they are in the FF like the khaasta.

Oh yeah, duh.

Genuinely new (for WotC D&D3, I mean) critters appear to be the tren, amphisbaena, and mageslayer. Maybe sarrukh, but I'm not sure about them.

The sarrukh appeared in Dragon #303 as "Creator Race", but were not mentioned with that name and are rumored to have changed significantly.

Actually, I believe they are fully new. The Dragon creator race was, IIRC, based on the Neverwinter Nights game, in a "Silicon Sorcery" article.

I would hope that the khaasta get a bit more interesting in Serpent Kingdoms. As presented in the FF, they are not.

Yeah, but in this case, we were talking about WotC appearances.

Actually, I believe they are fully new. The Dragon creator race was, IIRC, based on the Neverwinter Nights game, in a "Silicon Sorcery" article.

IIRC, Rich Baker said that they are a different "take" on the same creatures. So essentially, they probably are fully new, except for the same original source material from way back when.

I'm with you there. The khaasta struck me as nothing more than another bipedal lizard race. Bo-ring.
