Monsters in the MM3 (and other upcoming books)

It's just alot of products real fast. In three years, we've had one FR adventure. :) Granted, it was a "mega" adventure.
There were two other adventures, as well - "Into the Dragon's Lair" (where the horribly written Shadow creature template came from) and "Pool of Radiance". But I hear that people deny the existance of the two books ;).

I cannot confirm the existence of those books. ;)

Actually, I had forgotten about them because they are so poorly regarded.

You know, we walked the dealer floor at GenCon about as much as normal, but my wife nearly refused to walk into the WotC booth (not sure why) – so I really didn’t get a good look at MM3 or any other new releases. Guess I’ll have to wait if/when someone in my gaming group gets the book… :)

The art gallery and designer interviews are up. Wow, the art is fantastic! It looks like they've completely ditched the "cartoony" style featured in the Planar Handbook and other recent releases.

yeah, it's not bad. :)

the trilloch looks completely different from what i've seen in the past.

i also noticed a sussurus on there - not in the least bit plantlike though?

For your interest, Rich Burlew has revealed which monsters in the book are his creation:
Dinosaur, Battletitan
Golem, Shadesteel
Lumi
Rejkar
Siege Crab (so likely not related to the carcass crab - but the sea tiger seems to be an Eberron monster)
And the Topiary Guardians.

Well, supposedly, it is an update.

Finally, I think our take on the susurrus (an oft-forgotten first-edition Fiend Folio monster) will intrigue and delight a lot of fans; the artwork is also spectacular.

need to find time to get to a FLGS... or wait until one of the players in our group, whose dad owns one in Florida, shows up with a copy. ;)
