Monster Junkie
From the press release for Dragon: Monster Ecologies:

"This compilation—more than 120 pages long—also includes an annotated index of every ecology ever appearing in the pages of Dragon; pictorial timelines showing the artistic evolutions of some of D&D's best known creatures, including the beholder, mind flayer, and githyanki; a look at the Monsters of Suck, the worst monsters in D&D; and a new comic by Downer creator Kyle Stanley Hunter. With plenty for DMs, D&D players, and monster-lovers in general, you'll want to pick up Monster Ecologies. Don't venture into another dungeon unprepared!"

So what creatures do you suppose received this "recognition"?

I'm guessing the tirapheg and flumph are on there. What else?

My vote goes to the Aurumvorax.

You're mad. Mad, I say. One of the most memorable adventures I ever ran was a 2E one where the PCs when aurumvorax hunting. It was awesome, and those things are nasty: a 6 legged, 6 foot long, 500 pound very angry badger that you'd normally give a wide berth, except it happens to be treasure with claws.
