I'm working on a set of monstrous NPCs for our campaign. I am using the Savage Species as a foundation. At the back of the book, it lists the MM entry for a Thri-Kreen. I am looking to create a Thri-Kreen monk, and have a question about multi attacks.
Can a monk use the "two-weapon fighting" (or in this case multi-weapon fighting) rules? The monk rules don't talk about two-weapon fighting, but they do talk about a "flurry of blows." For adding one extra attack, the flurry of blows rules look better than two-weapon fighting. But, for a thri-kreen with four arms, the flurry of blows would only allow two attacks at first level (one more than the max). I would like to use the multi-dexterity and multi-attack rules to up the number of open handed attacks the NPC could get. Is this possible?
The two-weapon fighting rules do say that an open handed strike is a light weapon, so it seems to cover fighting with a weapon and an open hand.
