Morality: What's an Evildoer?

Easy there is no such thing as morality. It was a concept created by those in power to keep themselves above the rabble.

Problems with Evil

So it sounds like the concepts "Negative Energy" and "Moral Turpitude" have become conflated.

Perhaps it would make things clearer if the spell "Detect Evil" was "Detect Negative Energy", and "Protection from Evil" was ... I dunno, "Protection from Extra-Planar Forces"?

The list of things that are detected by "Detect Evil" really seem to be a list of things suffused with negative energy.

I guess I'll bring it up in House Rules -- what do do if you want to separate morality from energy source.

Sorry if this thread was perceived as 'inflamatory' or 'trollish' -- I'm making a homebrew world, and need to establish a rational justice system.

The closest thing I've ever heard of to a "rational" system hasn't existed in hundreds of years. The best I've heard of for D&D we talked about in this thread.

As opposed to the Mind Blasts and internal bleeding from its other psionic attacks? Not particularly. They're just my Favored Enemy, is all.
