More D&D Miniature Pictures

Do you think the bases will have a number or code? Right now I use colored foam circles with numbers on a battle instead of miniatures. I'd rather use these miniatures, but if I get several of one sort of orc or something I'd sure hope the bases were numbered...

Just get one of those silver ink permanent pens and write a number on each base. Presto! You have numbered bases. :)

Dammit man you're a DM you're just supposed to remember that the third orc from the left has 5ph left and the 4th kobold with the bent spear has Haste spell on him and....

Oh no I've gone cross-eyed again!

BTW these minis are looking better and better to me. I may have a little buying frenzy come September (and I already have about 3000 miniatures in various stages of painting!)

I still want to see these next to reaper figs, and old ral patha stuff, for scale. I have been gaming for 20 years, have alot of old minis, if these new ones look too big next to my old ones, i won't buy any.

The new Reapers are significantly bigger than the old Ral Partha's. I can tell the difference from across the room.

I likes it, I really likes it.

I don't have the time or talent to paint minis. I don't use them in my games but I could see picking up a few of these. Besides, if they do well my FLGS will take trade-ins, sell indy minis (at a little more profit I'm sure) and I should generally be able to find what I want. And if the product line does well, I'm sure WotC will listen to people and produce and sell full collections of these things so the random factor will be gone.

I'd really like to see a class and race combo for all the base classes and races more than anything else at this point. That would really help things in my group. And throw a few variants and different paint jobs in there, too.

Just got back from GTS, and I have to say that they do indeed look good, much better than I thought they might.

They're definitely similar in size to the newer Reaper figs, not 25mm like the older Ral Partha ones.

I, too, much prefer the round bases, both because you can turn them any way you like without having them spill outside the square (as mentioned) and because you can still see some of what is underneath the figure (like room details, a drawn-in dead body, spell effects, etc.) rather than having it completely obscured the way 1" square bases do.

I'm very excited about these new figures! can't wait to lay my hands on them :D it seems like an easy and cheap way to obtain a lot of mini's

I especially like the owlbear picture! it looks really dynamic

So, slightly off topic... in my hunt for minis I ordered a bunch of Chainmail minis from SVgames at a huge discount. But the problem is they don't ship till the end of March. I'm going to running CotSQ, so I ordered a bunch of the attack of the drow minis, but was not able to order the CotSQ box because they were out of them. :(

So last night, the wife and I are hanging out at Books-A-Million. We get to the roleplaying books section and she looks down and says 'What are those?' Sitting there is an entire shelf of Chainmail minis. Boxes and boxes of em. Heroes I & II Monsters I, II & III, and THREE boxes of CotSQ. Starter Boxes, Attack of the Drow Boxes, etc, etc. So I totally flip. In the end, my SVgames order will be better, because I'm getting way more minis and only spending like $27. But I won't get the one unique fig in the CotSQ box. Not a huge loss, since its the main bad guy that is in ONE encounter... but still.

And whats up with this... no drow priestess was ever made for Chainmail? Whats with that? They are the mainstay of the drow baddies.

So anyways, way off topic, but thought it was amusing.

Is there any news on the subject of rarity level for these minis?
I see a lot of people assuming that the minis will have rarity levels, but to date i have seen no indication of that.
