Well, I have to say I'm impressed.
When I first heard that Wizards decided to go 'gooey vinyl' on the figures, I thought that would be the end of my miniature purchases from them.
But somehow.. Astoundingly, they actually found a way to get detail to appear on these bendy little bits of army-man plastic. That troll is, from what I can tell, stunningly detailed, even just to look at the shoulder muscles represented in the blurry picture
Hopefully, they will find a sculptor who can carve a decent Minotaur, and animal-hybrid style monsters. I'm always baffled at the whole MASSIVE upper body and head, and iiiiiiiiiiiiiittttybitty little legs. Unless every creature literally moved about on all fours, this type of body structure is completely useless, as upright beings need powerful 'lower' legs for propulsion. I did, however, like the face on that thing.
The paint jobs are what I expected. Rather gloopy, and utterly terrible from an artistic standpoint. That Centaur (I'm assuming that's what it is, though what is with that white streak up it's torso is beyond me) looks like a joke painted like that. If I can find a good forum for paint stripping vinyls, I'll be doing that, assuming I feel like spending a few million dollars on trying to *get* a Centaur, as it seems they are making creature TYPES randomized, which really sticks in my craw.
Lord I wish I lived in a city that had a decent place for a 'second market' oppertunity to buy. The pirate (quite literally) who runs the game store here tends to overcharge 40 to 60% on things, and I guarantee the moment he gets whiff of 'rare' on a collectable miniature line, he'd happily charge me $8 for a plasticy Mind flayer
But so far, I'm leaning into the more impressed than unimpressed gallery. The quality looks more than servicable, save a few artistic mistakes, and there just might be a chance of getting 'themed' boxes in the future.
Lets hope.
