OK, I have a few minutes to briefly cover Saturday and Sunday at Gen Con before I head to bed. Gotta get up early tomorrow and catch a plane to New York, followed by a train to Boston to see Piratecat. Luckily, Mark's promised to give me a wake-up call. Assuming he wakes up, of course.
I spent a couple of hours on Saturday wandering around the exhibitor hall, checking out all the booths. I met a whole bunch of people, and missed far more. It was great to finally meet Nicole Lindroos of Green Ronin - both times I visited the booth, Chris Pramas wasn't there, unfortunately. I dropped by the Fiery Dragon booth to say hi, and was delighted to meet Claudio Pozas! For those who have never met him, Claudio is the nicest, friendliest person in the entire world. I kept my promise to buy on of his art pieces, and came home with an original Pozas Flumph, which will soon become the new EN World mascot!
I sepnt time at the Mystic Eye booth (along with Thunderhead Games) - they're a fun bunch. I also went out for a quick meal with James of RPGNow (along with his crew). Also, I grabbed a coffee with Joseph Goodman of Goodman Games, who is a thoroughly nice fellow.
There were a whole bunch of publishers who I completely missed over the weekend - either because I couldn't seem to find their booths, or because I ran out of time. Apologies to anyone who didn't get to put up with me for a few minutes - you're probably better off that way!
I bumped into Monte a couple of times while wandering the exhibit hall; I'm pleased to report that Monte is as nice a chap in real life as he is online. His wife, Sue, is lovely too. I also spoke to Clark Peterson of Necromancer Games, who kindly gave me a copy of Gygax's Necropolis.
Adlon and I were workng together most of the day trying to put together a web page for the ENnies results. Unfortunately, that didn't work out so well, and I'm going to have to make sure that the technical side of things are covered better next year. For the moment, of course, you can see the results in the d20 Publishers forum, and I'll be preparing a proper web page as soon as I get home. Adlon may well have one up at Mortality.net before then.
Saturday night was spent at the Safe House again where myself, Teflon Billy, Al and Mark linked up with the Mystic Eye/THG crew. Adlon was also there, as were the folks from Twin Rose Software (Chris from Twin Rose was very excited about the recent developments in the d20 software industry, although I had to dispute his claim that it was the biggest news this year!
).
On Sunday, Al and I dropped in at the end of Piratecat's last RPGA game. We went out for lunch, and were joined by one of his friends - I'm terribly embarrassed, but I don't remember her name! She was very friendly and fun to talk to, though. We all headed over to the RPGA awards ceremony, but Al and I had to leave about halfway through to meet Mark and catch our train to Chicago. I hear, though, that PC won the DM of the Year award again, for the second year running. Go PC!
That's it for the moment. Got to do important things like sleeping. Al and I have spent the last couple of days with Mark in Chicago and have had great fun - especially today when we met a few other EN Boarders for lunch and a visit to the art museum. It was great to meet you guys! You can see some pics above from Mark, taken in Chicago during the last couple of days, and he took a whole bunch more today.
