Most epic backdrop/scene

What's the most epic, breathtaking or monumental backdrop or scene you've ever played in or DM'd?

Myself, I wrote a monograph for Chaosium which I playtested to fruition only once. The penultimate scene, set in 1941, saw the Investigators stealing a speedboat on the island of Hawaii in order to reach the BBEG lair on the island of Bora Bora. On the way they were attacked by a Nazi sub to the backdrop of the bombing of Pearl Harbour (literally, it started as they were stealing the speedboat).

My most memorable imagery (IMO):

All the dragons of the world united and flew in a great shell around the party, fighting off a combined onslaught of the heavens and hells in ever thinner numbers until they reached The End. (The end of all existence, that is).

Can't get much more epic than that (nor would I care to try).

My party invaded Hell.

Their army consisted of ten Halruuan airships crewed by psionic constructs and ten thousand paladins, mostly of Helm. They were backed up by easily five times that number of ordinary soldiers, siege engineers, etc.

The opposing forces were a legion of one hundred thousand devils, the resources of an entire level of Baator. The barbazu battalions marched on the backs of great blocks of soulstuff, pulled by thousands of gurgling lemures from the depths of the marshes of Minauros using chains hanging from the Iron City of Dis above. Necromantic golems of tremendous size waded through the battle, incorporating the body parts of the fallen into their own twisted bulk.

My party used the army as a distraction.
