Most interesting Epic Character?

Yeah, I was definitely noticing that templars are just plain better than paladins except for the mount (and high level spells). Problem is, a dragon mount is just so cool sounding...

Oh well, maybe I'll re-tool and see what happens.

Epic Commoner. If you can roleplay such a character, you're a RP deity! :) Of course, it's just a joke, you can't even go past 20th with NPC classes (and I think that a 5th+ Commoner is already nonsense).

I have never played Epic, but I'd like to see what an Epic Rogue could be, with his ever-increasing Sneak Attack and epic skills.

Also a Wiz 5/Ftr 5/Arcane Archer 20 with +10 arrows sounds nice :). At least if there are epic feats suitable to power up the other special arrows.

Anyway, if I could start at 20th, I'd go with either a 20th single-class character or one with 10 levels in a PrCl, so that I'll start with already all the special abilities completed.
Or otherwise for a spellcaster I'd "stop" a few levels before, enough to get 8th (or 7th) level spells, and take the 5 levels left to reach 20th in a fighting class to get an extra attack from BAB before it's too late ;)

The epic shadowdancer is also really cool. Since his shadow jump doubles each time he gets it, it can really get high. Also the shadow companions, you get more and more of them, and they all become more powerful. You can also qualify for alot of rogue epic feats as well. And your shadows are the same alignment as you are by the way. I always thought it would be interesting to play a paladin shadowdancer. You use the power of darkness for righteousness! Monks are also a good choice for shadowdancer (especially monks of shar, if you're playing in FR).

I'd go -- and am hoping to go, when our current campaign gets there -- epic druid.

You can either get into epic spellcasting (with access to all of the spell seeds) or you can get into enhanced wildshaping. I think it was 27th level to be able to dragon wildshape and you can turn into a Primal Elemental long before that...

And don't forget that wildshaping druids actually get the supernatural abilities of what they turn into... be the first on your block with a working breath weapon! :)

Druids don't get supernatural, just extraordinary (unless that's the specifics of the epic druid). But I belive that the dragon wildshape in epic ph does give you breath weapon.

I would be an epic shifter. Dear god, thank of the things you could morph into!! Bone Ooze baby!!

Anything that will give you 20th level casting ability as a sorcerer (straight sorcerer, MotAO, etc.) and then go dragon disciple to level 30. Despite it not being an epic PrC, you will get bonus 9th levle slots every level you get a tremendous boost to str with the size increase, you get wings, a breath weapon and a few other niceties. Also with already having the 20 levels you will be able to handpick your spells to their maximum efficiency.

I will also second the epic Paladin as they are just so damn cool. And with the divine feats you are unstoppable. Also, don't let anyone tell you the templar is absolutely better than the paladin. Taking leadership and then epic leadership to get a dragon mount with the added abililtes of the Paladin class is so powerful it is surprising every powergamer would not want to do it. And seeing the the lifetime of most mounts is approximately 10 years it is more than reasonable that you would have such a dragon mount at that level.

Something I have always been interested in playing was a swashbuckler. With instant epic status available, this might be an interesting concept as well - combines good power with coolness and great roleplaying potential. You could have levels in fighter and ranger and then take the duelist PrC. Combined with some of the feats from the Swashbuckling Dragon article (especially the part about parrying), you could be quite a dangerous opponent - think about parrying a titans maul with your dagger while then attacking with your rapier to do an automatic 6d6 dmg (with two energy enhancements) per hit not including any other damage mod's.

Epic Arcane Trickster is another excellent option. The primary drawback of an arcane trickster is the slower progression to higher level spells. At level 20 you can actually have those spells and you will continue to get great Sneak attack damage while getting all of the other cool abilities of the class.

The magic beast, dragon, and other "special" wildshape epic feats specifically grant you all supernatural (but not spell-like) abilities of your new form.

That's what I was referring to. And druids already get the elemental supernatural abilities.

Epic Rogue

I'd go Rogue, and qualify for the Gatecrasher prestige class in Manual of the Planes. It would be pretty unusal for an epic campaign to avoid plane hopping...Heck you can't even find some of the REALLY expensive magic items outside of a city like Union or Sigil. There are a lot of great rogue epic feats, and a couple of epic prestige classes that would fit well for a plane savy rogue!

I'd play a L10 Ranger/L10 Shadow Scout (From OA)

This equates to:

Eight favored enemies at +7/+6/+6/+5/+4/+3/+2/+1 with the Extra Favored Enemy feat from MotW. Get a weapon of Hunting from MotW, which doubles your FE bonus to damage. You can Smite favored enemies, detect favored enemies at will (!!), you get fast movement, and evasion and the best BAB. Use either TWF or a bow (Hunter's Mercy, anyone?).

For the rest of your career, take Epic Shadow Scout to get every other favored enemy in the world and additional smites. As for feats, take Bane of Enemies first at L21. Then take Improved Favored Enemy a bunch of times.
