You can get to it along the edges with some combination of Paladin, Monk, and Hexblade Warlock, but there's a lot of wasted and irrelevant features in there, and you still need some houseruling.

Ideally, you'd start with a half-caster chassis, add in a version of Unarmored Defense, +Wis to attack with melee weapons, a mechanic to replicate the Oath of Enmity, and a spell list focused on smites, debuffs, and movement.

I do grant that "mystically endowed skirmisher from a mystery cult" is awfully specific, but I think it's OK for a class package to generate its own archetypes. Heck, the cleric might have lightly borrowed from Charlemagne and Van Helsing, but it pretty much created the "some fighting, some magic, divine caster" trope sui generis.

How does this avenger work for you?

As a plus, it's by the same guy who wrote the magus you're using . . . check out his pugilist, too. It gives me the nonmagical unarmed fighter that 5e doesn't have.

I think it's only available on his site in a draft form. Oh, and speaking of drafts: His scholar class might intrigue you, too. It works as a nonmagical support character (warlord, healer and more).

Yea, the scholar I've actively been following, it's another class I really like. Pugilist didn't excite me as much, but I think it's simply an archetype I've never been that interested in.
 

I'm still hoping for another pass on the Artificer, that brings it back close to its 3.5e Eberron origins. The Unearthed Arcana attempt had its good points, but didn't quite capture the essence of the class. Admittedly, it was very much a buffing class, and 5e deliberately goes a long way in mitigating stacking of buffs, but there might be room for compromise there.
 

I had forgotten the urban druid from Dragon Magazine, I loved that idea. It could be showed like the D&D equivalent to the Pathfinder rpg archetypes. I would give it the name "augur", and with spells to repair things, and to heal constructs.

What do you think about the idea of a class like a mixture of mad surgeon, soft necromancer and biopunk artificer? With the name "Haruspex". Other idea is the joker class, mixing the beguiler and the spellthief (hybrid rogue + arcane spellcaster).

The thief-acrobat could come back, but maybe with some changes, for example the name or the background, something about ex-slaves like the battle dancer class from Dragon Compendium, and I suggest the name "saltimbanqui" ( = acrobat artist).
 

I hope they don't introduce any new base classes. But there are a few subclasses I'd still like to see developed.

The jester/fool Bard.

The acrobat Thief.

The tranquility Monk.

The wuxia Monk.

The brute Fighter (I didn't like the specifics in UA but loved the concept.)

The witch Warlock (yes, this can be done already with some creativity, but I'd like to see something that more explicitly delivers on some of the classic tropes.)
