I am rather fond of the Factotum.
This is basically the class you chose to play Benny from The Mummy.
Or basically any role Bruce Campbell has ever played.

An all-Bruce party of Factotums . . .
I call Dibs on Autolycus!
What does the Paladin with Oath of Vengeance lack for Avenging? I played an Avenger in 4E and it seemed to be all about hitting things, chasing things and hitting them again with some holy magic: like a 5E smiting Paladin.
Yea, the inquisitor from Pathfinder 1 is also a good inspiration. Baseline D&D has never had a good "divine + skills" class.I guess there is space for the return of the avenger class, maybe something like an "assassin's creed" with armour or like a vampire-hunter, or the inquisitor from Pathfinder.
