Am I missing a post? Didn't someone point out the fact that the 5/1 fighter/cleric loses an attack!!!?!!

Sure, at 20th level. In the years I've been playing since 3e came out, I've yet to level one of my characters up to that point. Basing your character's progression on what you may ultimately achieve can be something of a false hope.

What do you mean at 20th level?
I thought that clerics start off with +0 BAB therefor at that level noted the 6th level fighter gets a additional attack than the 5/1 fighter cleric

Personal taste...playing style...spells selection...what you want to accomplish. This is the only formula.

Multiclass spellcasters cannot be artillary. That is the only rule to multiclassing spellcasters no matter what the balance.

...crafted by one of the many Paladins out there who have taken the Craft Wand feat? ;)

I was gonna say that.

I, as a DM, would never allow such a thing to be bought unless the paladin in my game were to take the feat. Gotta figure, if it isn't good enough for you to take, why would someone else?

Technically, they wouldn't have to. A Paladin just needs to team up with someone with the Craft Wand feat and they can make it together.

Well, you only lose the extra attack for one level, until you add either another cleric or fighter level, or something else that gives you +1 BAB. I thought in your original post you meant losing the one extra attack for good, not by deferring it for a level, which to me isn't a "loss", per se.

I'd say the straight fighter is better. The extra feat and BAB would outclass the few 1st level spells (you can get potions of cure light wounds pretty cheaply anyhow at that level) and the turn undead as a first level cleric would not be that helpful. That said, if there are no healers in your party, or you are going for some prestige class like holy liberator, then I would revise my opinion.

I don't think so. A F5/C1 with War domain doesn't lose a feat and since he has healing spells his effective HP is higher.

Rog3/Rgr1/Bbn1/Bard4.

Singing a song, then tumble into position, next round charge into sneak attack position with rage while the song takes effect... ;)

Was thinking about that level sorcerer ;)

Really? I would have thought your XP penalty would have been bad enough already.
