That doesn't stop it from being a pain in the arse for those of use who already had mountain giants in a specific role in our games.
How is it a pain in the ass? How integral is the height to the description of the monster? Just describe it as shorter.

This is just another example of game-expansion power inflation breaking the curve and making the campaign not make sense anymore.
The book's out -1 days (I still can't find it in stores) and you have already run these monsters in a game as part of a campaign and determined through actual usage that they are an instance of "game-expansion power inflation", whatever that means?

Man, you're good.

I guess after 23 years of playing D&D, I no longer need to be led by the nose to feel compelled in introducing expansion-book monsters that make all my campaign's established myths about titans, dragons, and the tarrasque look juvenile by comparison.

Thanks for the flame.

Pardon me, but if I flamed, you flamed, no? You made a negative statement of-supposed-fact about the product and you actually haven't had the opportunity to test whether your hypothesis is true. I'll admit to being frustrated at the obligatory, "God this sucks!" threads wriggle out like worms in a rainstorm whenever Wizards ever blows its nose.

That said, I used no abusive language with you, nor did I engage in any ad hominem attacks. I just asked you back up your inflammatory statement.

Let it go, guys.

And Rich, welcome! I think the colossal giants are incredibly cool. When I first saw them, I was whisked back to the first time I read The Hobbit, remembering the giants playing catch with rocks that forced the Company to hide in the goblin cave during the storm.

Was that an inspiration when you designed them?

No need to listen to Wizard's on any count. Ignore or rip out offending pages from any of their books.

I do not believe in playing 'official D&D'. I play my D&D. Or someone else's whom I get along with.

So, how much have the monsters been changed from the little prereleases in Dragon?
