Move Equivalent Action.

Pretty simple question.

A prone character:
1. Stands up as a move equivalent action.
2. Can that character then charge as a
partial action in the same round?

thanks,
Ysgarran.

No, you cannot take a partial action by choice. A condition needs to dictate that you can take it. Eg from being surprised, being hasted, have taken the ready action, etc.

You could, however:

1) stand up (ME action)
2) ready an attack on "whoever is wielding a big sword" (or casting a spell, or has really bad BO, or any other trigger you care to name, as long as it's satisfied by the person you want to attack)
3) ready trigger is satisfied immediately
4) use triggered readied attack to make a partial charge.

For the sake of convenience, you could just skip parts 2) and 3) and say that you stand up and make a partial charge.

I'm not sure yet whether this is clever tactics, a reasonable in-game outcome, or just metagaming of the most outrageous kind.

Hong, that works only if you consider ready as Standard action that consists of the readying AND a ME action... some groups use it differently.

A ready action has to be triggered by somebody elses actions, so it couldn't trigger just by you wanting it to.

If I can't think of a trigger that can be satisfied when I want it to, I should hand in my munchkin hat immediately.

You're missing the point, a readied action has to be triggered by somebody elses actions.

I stand up and read a partial charge at that orc as soon as anyone blinks.

Next PC:

I blink (free action)...

Avoid the sillyness, let people do partial actions voluntarily.

A blink is not a move last time I checked, but you have still lowered your initiative to that of the next person who actually moves.
