I once thought of doing something Mad Max with a Mekilott (spelling?) Rolling Transport but then Avernus came along.

Nightmare at 30,000 feet.
It was a modern game and the players were the only ones who could see the creatures on the wing. A coven of hags were slowly tearing apart the plane to inspire as much terror as possible.
 



I've used the "Blake's Seven*" start recently.

*This is where the PCs are (possibly wrongly) convicted criminals. At the beginning of the campaign they escape and steal a ship.

Were the PC's all thieves?
Yes indeed! It was actually for a 1st level Halfling Rogue and it was called "Jellija for Sale" it was a 3rd edition adventure in the back of the book Heroes of High Favor: Halflings published by BadAxe Games way back in 2003.
