Movies that should have sucked, but didn't

After reading the T3 reviews here, a lot of peeps mentioned they were going into this movie and expecting it suck but saying it was good.

What other movies out there did you expect the worst from only to like it at the end.

Mine was Ghost Ship. I am not a big horror movie fan and thought this would suck when I forced to see it. I actually liked it.

Edit- Corrected Grammer error. Its like 3 in morning and I am working on 4th of July so sue me :p

I can think of 2 right off the top of my head. Both times I was dragged by a woman-friend. The Rock & The Negotiator. I thought both were going to stink and was entertained by both. The Rock was just pure fun. The Negotiator is actually one of my favorite movies. It probably has more to do with that Sam Jackson and Kevin Spacey are two of my favorite actors but still. :)

right now, only two come to mind.

They were: "Equilibrium" and "Black Hawk Down"

Yah, yah, yah...I know Ridley Scott is awesome...but really, when I saw the trailer for this film I thought Black Hawk Down was going to be this touchy feely journey about some of the crew members who got shot down in Somalia. The trailer was really misleading to me.

Then when I saw it....holey cow...awesome flic.

Equilibrium is a guilty pleasure....heh. Reminds me of a Outer Limits episode with just a higher budget.

I'm watching one right now... South Park. As the Star Trek people will tell you, it's pretty darn hard to create a movie from a TV show and still make it even better. It's not just "bigger, longer, and uncut," it's smart, memorable, pretty original and damn funny. It works for both those who watch the show, and those who've never seen it before.

The Scorpian King - A spin off movie, a wrestler and that title, my hopes were not high, came away very happy.

The New Guy - Stupid teen movie but it does not suck and is funny. If I was a producer it would be the model.

Austin Power's Goldmember - after number two, which was gross humor, I did not have much hope for this one, it was very good.

Pitch Black.

Me and a couple of friends went to the video store one afternoon and decided to rent a couple of sci-fi flicks. We decided to start the evening with a supposedly serious and good one, and finish off with a B-movie. For the first, we chose Mission to Mars, and for the second Pitch Black.

We barely made it through the suckiness that was Mission to Mars only to be very pleasantly surprised by the coolness of Pitch Black. OK, it wasn't a masterpiece or anything, but it was far better than it ought to have been.

I'd also second the nomination of Scorpion King. A very D&D-ish movie. They don't make enough cheesy fantasy movies these days.

I was kind of leery about seeing Signs , so I waited until it came out on DVD. When I saw it, I was pleasantly surprised.

Spiderman. After almost every other Superhero movie, my Spidey Sense told me that this would suck like the rest of them. But it didn't. Except for the ending, where supposedly amazingly intelligent Peter Parker does the DUMBEST thing ever, and doesn't take the girl. This is matched only by the Green Goblin not taking off Spiderman's mask when he's unconcious.

The Green Mile. Oh crap, another stupid religious story where someone's going to die. I was dead wrong there too. Still the only film I've ever cried watching (a feat matched only by the ending to The Amber Spyglass).
