MS Word: How can I dual column my text boxes?

As the titile of thread. I have a text box I'd like to dual column, but don't know how to. Help!

Just a text box inside the document, or is it the whole document?

Microsoft Office XP. A text box inside the document. I know how to dual column otherwise, but the appropriate button remains inactive while the cursor is inside the text box.

Hmm... just tried to enter columns into a text box in Word 2007 and it doesn't seem to be possible (option is greyed out when going to the page layout ribbon). Seems to be impossible to do, yep.

Maybe you can split the text into two boxes?

I thought of that, but with auto formatiing, it wouldn't look right.

Don't use text boxes. Instead, use a "section break" and define the section to be two columns.

If I understand what you are asking... Wouldn't a Table work just as well? 2 columns, 1 row...

The problem with a table is that the text from the first row/column won't overflow to the second column. S/he's looking for something like what a newspaper does with an article that takes multiple columns.

In most word processors (I don't use Word 'cuz I think it sucks ) these would be called "sections" or "blocks". You start a two-column section and start typing. When you hit the bottom of the page, it automatically goes to the top of the second column, which is vertically even with the first column. When you hit the bottom of the page a second time, it adds a page break and starts a new two-column page where the whole thing repeats again.

But seriously, the OP should just use the Help function in his program. Duh!
