If you have a 1st level crusader/1st level warblade, what initiator level do you have as crusader? (Basically, does one round the (1/2 of the) warblade level up or down?)

One. And down. You generally round down in D&D, so unless there's a specific mention otherwise, I think that's the way to go.

Yep. From the SRD:

ROUNDING FRACTIONS

In general, if you wind up with a fraction, round down, even if the fraction is one-half or larger.

Exception: Certain rolls, such as damage and hit points, have a minimum of 1.

glass.

The more interesting question is what happens when you have more than 2 classes. Do you round each one down separately, or add them up and round down the result?

Eg warblade1/fighter1/barbarian1. Is the warblade IL 1 + int(1/2) + int(1/2), or 1 + int((1+1)/2)?

I'd treat it as the former, in line with the general principle of treating numeric progressions separately by class.

By my reading of the multi-class guidelines for initiator classes, you lump all your other classes together then halve the result to determine the boost your other classes give to your initiator level.

A 16th level character with the martial study feat and no initiator classes would have an initiator level of 8 no matter how many classes he had.

What's most interesting IMHO is that the calculation lumps other classes EXCEPT initiator prestige classes together. Initiator prestige classes count as full initiator levels for all your martial adept classes. So, a Warblade 6 / Crusader 4 / Eternal Blade 10 would have a WB IL = 18 and a Crusader IL = 17. That's solid spiffy.

Cheers, -- N
