Level Up (A5E) Multiclassing Glitches

Imagine you’re a Level 3 Wildborn Ranger. You have 2 1st-level spell slots.

Now imagine you take a level of Herald, which standing alone would also have 2 1st-level spell slots.

You now have spellcasting from multiple classes, obliging you to use the Multiclass Spellcaster table. You gain one level from your three Wildborn levels and… zero levels from Herald, because we round down.

The multiclass table doesn’t have a level 1. Do you have any spell slots now?

Not... exactly.

You get to know spells from both Wildborn and Herald spell lists and prepare them entirely separately, as a multiclassed spellcaster, but you don't even -register- on the Multiclassing table for the purposes of Spellcasting, yet. So you just cast spells as a Wildborn Ranger without a second class.

Like... Herald counts for so little on spellcasting (Or ranger does, depending on perspective) you're not actually gaining spell slots, yet and are still a single-classed level 1 spellcaster for the purposes of slots.
