Oh go cry me a river, stealer of my #5 spot. :p :) Some day I'll be back on top!

*thinks core bases are alright...just need to be in them to win in WC and SC* ;)

Well, certainly. I've seen you post that MAD is a myth in another thread, and I disagreed when I read that, but now that you've clarified to the core base classes, I agree with you.

Well, if we dive into the realm of multi class combos, first people would really have to decide what numbers are needed. Is a 14 consider ed okay, or a 16? And how high in how many attributes really requires something to be MAD? Would it be a pair of 16's? Or an 18 and a 16?

Multiple Ability Dependance (MAD) seems to be this idea that people believe but I don't. People claim there are classes especially the Monk and the Paladin it seems that need a lot of abilities to be high to be a worthwhile character. I don't buy it.

I do. A paladin needs a good charisma score to be an effective diplomat and to turn undead. He needs a good strength score to be able to hit and smite that evil, and he needs a good wisdom score to be able to cast his spells effectively. The paladin is a busy class.

Or have I missed your point entirely?

I stole that spot from Joshua Dyal fair and square, so he stole it from you, not me ;)

Wizard3/Cleric3/Mystic Theurge 10. If you don't have at least a 17 in both Wisdom and Intelligence, you're in deep trouble because you can't cast your spells. That means you need two 15s before stat raises, which you don't get with the default array. Plus by that level, having a spellcasting stat of +3 is truly crippling (based on the saving throw vs DC progression).

Fine,

But the least you could have done Rystil, is given it BACK to me!!! :p :)

Mystery,

I know a couple paladins that weren't the front liners. They just served as healers and protecters of the spellcasters. Thus being up close and being able to hit very well wasn't their job.

Define good? Can he get by with 12's in all those or do they have to be 18's? I think a pair of 14's and perhaps a single 16 would do for those three and that's not that bad or hard to get.

I understand that they don't have to be front liners. But to use the smite evil ability, they need to hit what they're trying to smite. And heal and protect.

At that level you can easily have two items that boost those two attributes plus run the possibility of a wish or two as well. So, there is plenty of ways to make that non 15 score high enough. And if the character is worried about DCs they can take feats to improve them.

I would agree.

I think the paladin would not want a low score (under 10) in those three key abilities I mentioned.
