My cat has died and it hurts very much

My condolences, Darkness.

People just don't get the connections some of us make with our little companions.

My Little Guy is on my chest right now, purring away, happy as a clam. He'll be 19 next month. Got him as a kitten for my 24th birthday and I just can't imagine life without him. He's my pride and joy, my budly boy.

That being said, he's about 90% deaf and partially blind. He has pain in his hips. One year ago he had a scratched cornea that developed a staph infection which led to a stroke that nearly killed him. He could barely walk, couldn't jump, completely lost his voice and some control over his bladder. Cost me about $1500 in medical bills and took months for him to recover. Heck, it took over 9 months for him to get his voice back!

Of course, NO ONE understood why I would put out that much on vet bills for a nearly 18 year old cat. I should just put him to sleep, they told me, put him out of his misery.

No way. I just couldn't do it.

Right now, he's on my chest, purring and happy. And that make me happy.

He's my boy.

Horrible to hear, Darkness. I've lost a cat before when I was younger, and I still miss her.

I wish I had a cat right now, but ever since I moved back from the UK last year, I've been feline-less...its depressing, really.

There's nothing that I can say that others haven't already said. I feel your pain, Darkness; I've lost more than one cool cat in my time. :(

The wheel turns. Know that kitty was happy in life, and take care of yourself.

James
