My geekiness is rubbing off!

The other day my wife, my son and I are in our FLGS. My son, who will be 3 in 10 days, points to a figure of the Black Cat, from Spiderman, and says, "It's the Black Cat." The shopkeeper was impressed, since my son is only 2 and the Black Cat is usually not in the same "coolness league" as Spiderman or Superman or Batman, and gave him a free Teen Titans comic book. I was so proud. :D

my little fetus has many years of geeky training ahead of her and if i have anything to say about it will be a proud little geek one day. ;) my stepdaughter doesn't like the word, even though she is heading towards being a serious anime fan. ;)

Congrats on geeking up your son!

Reminds me of when my son was about 6 months old. He had surgery to correct club feet, so he was in casts for a while. We had to give him sponge baths in the kitchen sink. When he was on his back on the counter he was looking at the bottom of the cabinets, so I put a set of Justice League stickers there to entertain him. We got into game of asking him to point to Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, etc. and he got pretty good at it.

When I told a friend about this he exclaimed "He's a G-- D--- genuis!" The boy is 6 years old now, and the wife and I still mouth this expression to each other when he does something smart.

My son went to his first Star Trek convention when he was about 4 mos old - and won the costume contest. (Of course, dressing a little baby up like Picard probably made it a gimme. They should have seen his Borg costume for Halloween a couple of months later! :D ) He played his first game of D&D when he was 8, and has been a regular part of our gaming group since he was 10.

No real baby geekness for my daughter, but I did get her started even earlier with D&D - in the aforementioned game when my son was 8, my daughter was 4, and played a Bard that for some reason wanted to kick a lot every time she entered combat. Most successful character in the group: she saved the characters of my wife (Ranger, I think - definitely an alt fighter class) and son (Wizard) from a bunch of Thayan wizards (1st level initiates) that way!

Both of them can name everything in the video montage at the beginning of Enterprise, and tell you a little bit about each one, too - although (unfortunately?) with my son it would be MUCH more about the Phoenix, Valiant, and Enterprise than any of the real historical stuff...

Oh, yeah? My two year old CHOOSES to watch Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail. Now if *that* isn't geeky... ;)
My son uses the lines about building castles and them sinking in the swamp whenever it is even remotely appropriate to something going on around us. Makes me smile and about drives me nuts, all at the same time.

Oh yeah?
Well, my son played his first D&D game at the age of 5!
He still has these problems with focus, and when he was
hit with a symbol of insanity he didn't have to act any
differently...

My 4 year old son's favorite movie is The Princess Bride. He asked for it for his 4th birthday six months ago, and still loves it. We just watched it again today. He is almost over his fear of the ROUS.
