My Gen Con Report

I'll drop a note to the guys at Human Head (one of their guys is in one of my gaming groups) and see if they'll send out review copies of their wizard academy book to the staff reviewers.

Sounds great Eric.

I was really surprised by this book. First I heard about the inclusion into other settings, now I see the full color artwork and different layout and while I don't know if the content itself is good, the effort into making this different is obvious to even the casual observer.

That's correct. Anyone who wants to know how to provide unobtrusive yet exceptional service to the handicapped should go to Disney World. For that matter, anyone who wants to see customer service done right should go to Disney World.

The after hours of gen con are still fresh in my mind. We are on the 65 north, heading back into Chicago after having stopped at Burger King for a quick fill up on garbage food.

While I saw Caludios from Fiery Dragon, I didn't have time to stop by the booth or even speak to Claudios as he was involved in some heavy conversations.

In short, the people were great, the products were impressive, and Gen Con, at least the people and products, were top notch.

Any news on Gates of Oblivion from Fiery Dragon?

Joe,

Did anyone at Alderac mention a release date for the Warlords of the Accordlands books?

Thanks,

Nick

I think the guy at the booth told me October when I asked. All they had on display were mock-ups of the books, with spiffy covers but no actual internal content.

Cheers,

October? Wow, I thought they were a long way off.

Thanks man!

Nick

Perhaps best not to write that in stone. It's entirely possible I've gotten it mixed up with so many other future release dates for stuff I'm interested in. GenCon was a whirlwind, especially the exhibit hall. Anyway, my fuzzy memory on that one is that he told me October. Maybe if you post a separate thread on this topic alone, someone else will be able to confirm or correct.

Cheers,

I just got back from Gen Con and thought it was great. I'm really surprised to hear all the complaining about. Honestly, all that effort should be directed to kicking yourselves for not pre-registering. The opportunity was up and running for months. I strolled in and picked up my badge and event tickets within three minuets. My buddy got his mailed to him.

On the other hand, those who were waiting with the sick and feeble, should have recieved special attention and accomodation. I think it might even be law. The rest of the people waited as the result of poor planning, or procrastination - on their behalf. System failures happen. Next year will call for better contingency planning. (snip)
This assumes that you can actually make plans in advance. Some people only find out at the last minute that they can go.

I saw the mock ups of all four books.

One of my friends popped down $50 for the Stargate SG-1 game and so far, he's pleased. Now they did offer me this book, but unlike our other staff reviewers, I gotta tell ya, I'm into fantasy. I enjoy things like Anime so look forward to BESM d20 and I've played Spycraft, but it takes a lot more time to review a complete OGL style game than it does a standard one. So long story short, I didn't take them up on their offer for this wonderful book but will be playing it in the future (and buying it!)

Any news on Gates of Oblivion from Fiery Dragon?

Another casualty of getting into the hall late. I didn't get a chance to meet the talented team of Fiery Dragon this year I'm afraid.
