My LGS won't carry modules/Lost City of Barakus

Lost City of Barakus

If you can't get it from your local game shop you can try ordering direct from the Troll Lords (this book was done through TLG). I believe we are still running a deal where if you purchase LCoB you receive a couple of adventure modules as a free gift.

You should call the Troll Lords to see what the deal is and what is in stock. I am not sure how many copies we had left and we started the deal to help clear some space in the TLG warehouse for some of their upcoming releases.

You can find their website through a link from ours, I believe they have their phone number up there somewhere.

my FLGS won't stay in business cuz people keep trying to get things for free or cheap.

I hear ya. If there as a LGS less than 45 min away I'd support it w/ cover price. But gas prices alone make it prohibitive now :(

you are telling me. up $0.13/gallon in less than a week.

but the price of tea in china or gas in ga still doesn't deter my using my FLGS.

what deters me is finding the item online at 30-60% off. OUCH. the most my FLGS will give is 25% off. and even then only on OoP items in their bargain bin.

25% off? Sheesh. Games Plus has a great selection and staff, but even with the punches they use, it's like 9% unless you spend enough to get the 'extra' bonus and then it's about 10%.

I wish I had OoP bin to look through :(

I agree w/ you, support the LGS, as long as they support and service YOU the customer.

Contact the (Not so F) LGS to find out if they have the module. Not only do they not have the module, they in general do not carry modules, because they don't sell well. Two strikes against it:
1) a module
2) S&S imprint, not WotC
...But they can special order it for me, and sell it to me at full price.

Well, goody-goody-gumdrops.

A preference for core isn't a surprise, but a philosphy of just not carrying modules strikes me as bizarre. Is this an aberration, or is it becoming the norm?

Also, any advice on the purchase itself, aside from eBay? :p

This is completely normal. Adventures don't sell nearly as well as general supplements do because they have a smaller target audience than general supplements.

Also, as a manufactorer I'm not really selling to you guys; I'm selling to FLGS. This means that my new adventure line (1 on 1 Adventures designed for 1 player and 1 GM) isn't going to be carried by many gaming stores ipso facto. It's something we have to just accept as manufactorers and move on. Sales are less for adventures so there's less profit to be made making them so there's less desire to spend time making them when you could be making something more profitable.

But I like adventures. :) And I have the ability to do whatever I like doing (within reason of course)--- so, voila, a line of adventures.

From the retailer's perspective, Why tie up capital in stock that's less likely to turn than stock that's more likely to turn? Once you get over the need to have a diverse product selection in order to maintain your destination store standing, the retailer has to think about where to spend his money just as much as I have to. Some retailers will carry adventures even though they could put their money into more proftiable things.
