My new favorite Star Wars era!

The Thrawn trilogy was really, really good. It satisfied a SW itch that i had years ago, and it was just so so cool to have back all of our old favorites in a story that still FELT like the original movie trilogy. There's so much EU stuff out now though that the Thrawn trilogy feels a lot less special, but at the time, it was about the only alternate star wars stuff out there. How old are they anyway?

What's also interesting is that Lucas has pretty much adopted the stance that if people want the "continued adventures" of the Luke, Han, and Leia, he largely refers to the Thrawn Trilogy. That may not have been the case initially (I've heard tales he rather viciously blasted the books), but for no that seems to be the case.

I've yet to hear of such praise for other post-RotJ segments of EU.
