D&D 5E Naming your weapon

For some reason, I see a mercenary dwarf naming his maul something almost cute and cuddly, as well as vigorously defending the manliness of said name.

Like cutie, petal or fluffy.

Or possibly something related to what his hammer does but incredibly understated or laughable antonym.

Like smusher, knock or mr. friendly.

I always liked the name of Wulf's warhammer from Strontium Dog - "Der Happy Stick."

Re: "Of Justice":

"Ai to Seigi no . . . " - (愛と正義の)

- - - - - - - - - -

In other connections: The surprise-attack rowing oar when leaping out from behind a boat: "Hurkin'-squalid oar." (There is no Musashi, there is only Zuul.)

I run a Dwarf NPC Cleric in the kids game who has a warhammer named "martha".

He talks to her quite a bit. Especially when Martha misses. Martha was an old flame of his before he heard Moradin's call. And so he named his warhammer after her.

I got the name/idea of naming a weapon from Larry Elmore during the Celebrity Red Box 4e game sessions on yootoob. He just mentioned it in passing, and I ran with the idea as it struck me as funny.

It has gone over really well, believe it or not. ;)
