Namor casting news

I have no doubt that the Rock and act like a pompous jerk. I am not at all convinced he can present himself as royal, a natural leader of a nation, without being a pompous jerk.
Well, then you and I just have to agree to disagree. I think he can be a leader of a nation without being arrogant, although that is my initial impression of comic book and Fantastic Four Namor, anyway, thinking he have the royal privilege of kidnapping Susan Richards and making her fall in love with him when she is married to Reed.

If he is to be modeled as an eco-warrior, considering that he is an Atlantean, wouldn't he be distrustful of the human race? (Discounting the fact that he served alongside Cap n' Bucky during WWII) I know I would, and I'm human (that's why I play a non-human in most RPGs, if possible). Not many live-action movies that features a non-human as a major character, unless it is a cartoon, or he is half-human (like DC Comics' Aquaman).

Yes, he is half human. His father was an American ship captain and his mother was an Atlantian princess.

Indeed. In fact, his full name is Namor MacKenzie. :)

No relation to "Spock Jenkins" even though they both have short dark hair and pointed ears... (^Boomerang referance!...anybody?..anybody?...ok moving on!)

hmmm...I guess the Rock is not a Bad choice...I liked him well enough in Scorpion King and the Rundown.
But actaully I do think that Nick Cage does have a similar build to Namor.
Think about how he looked in "ConAir" and clean him up, just about the same 'buffness' as Namor imo.

If Van Damme could act he has the wright build for it too I think.
(not saying you need a really good actor for Namor, but come on...I said "Van Damme" :D )

It should be interesting to see how much goes down underwater. Since it is generally more difficult to do underwater stuff. I guess we'll see if the Rock swims like a rock ;)
heheh...sorry, ahem anyhow...

Well, go back and notice that I qualified it with "when the writing was at it's best Namor was regal". At times when the writing is bad, most Marvel characters are either jerks or idiots.
