A slower start than last year, but I am looking for slow and steady. This year, I forced myself to avoid writing the stuff I wanted to write right off hte bat and instead hit the unsure stuff, reserving the plot lines that are planned for later when my motivation flags. I hope this strategy will work out better.

I just heard about it at about 6pm CST on Nov. 1st, and I'm in. Totally on the fly. Longest thing I've ever written has probably been a 5000 word essay, so ten times that amount with no prep is going to be pretty interesting :D Not sure if I'll finish, but I'm already seeing the mental benefits of just doing it.

Wow - thats cool! Thank you for posting about this site.

I am signed up as "Frater".

I will probably just write about my life as this will be my first attempt at a a novel. Plus it'll give me a chance to clear some shizzle from my past.

Well, Im keeping just ahead of my daily goal.

I can only write for an hour or so at a time. I'm impressed with myself, and am imagining how far I'd get if I were able to devote a normal eight hour day to it.

I came in very low on Day 1 with 1281. I had some steam in the morning, but lost it later at night, then hit a small wall when I was trying to figure out the next scene. I decided to sleep on it rather than force it and end up deleting later. I know where I want to go next, so hopefully I'll catch up.

Oh, and doing this one on the fly, with only a small idea of where I'm going.

Hey All

I'm tyring to meet the NaNoWriMo challenge, but I haven't actually signed up. Looking at my schedule, I'm almost sure to fail, but I'm going to give it my best shot. As of today (Nov 2) I've got 3,800 words done. Granted, it's pretty much crap, and the entire first chapter needs to be completely reworked, but it ain't about getting it right, it's about getting it done.

Cheers!

I wish that I would have seen this earlier, because I am afraid that without a lot of effort and luck that I am not going to make it. I'll admit that I did not sign up with any thoughts of actually making it (heck, I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I want to write and have a measly word count of 334), but instead saw it as a way to make myself write something. I have contemplated trying my hand writing for the past ten years, but have always found a reason not to.

So, here I am scrambling to put some thoughts together (after I signed up I had a few ideas come to me, so hopefully I can grow those thoughts). In a week I will probably have a better idea of if I can realistically push for the 50,000 words.

Well, good luck to everyone and happy writing.
