NaNoWriMo 2005 - Who's in?

I wish that I would have seen this earlier, because I am afraid that without a lot of effort and luck that I am not going to make it. I'll admit that I did not sign up with any thoughts of actually making it (heck, I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I want to write and have a measly word count of 334), but instead saw it as a way to make myself write something. I have contemplated trying my hand writing for the past ten years, but have always found a reason not to.

So, here I am scrambling to put some thoughts together (after I signed up I had a few ideas come to me, so hopefully I can grow those thoughts). In a week I will probably have a better idea of if I can realistically push for the 50,000 words.

Well, good luck to everyone and happy writing.

You'll make it. just find a character or a scene you like and start writing. Soon, you'll be writing like a madman. Ideas will be coming at you left and write and a story will start to come together. Everytime you feel like things are beginning to fall apart, do somethign to cause strife for one of your main characters, or kill a character.

Thank you for the vote of confidence. I think that I am done for tonight, so hopefully tomorrow I can make up some ground.

I keep getting stuck on names. I'll write write write, then need to name someone and completely stall out. Anyone have any links with just lists of names of people? I'm using contemporary name standards, so I don't even want anything fantastical.

Other than that, I'm doing okay. I'm hoping to have 4000-5000 words by the end of today, which considering the speed at which I normally write is very very good.

EDIT: I just found this. Veeery helpful!

Now I just have to make up some believable religious titles...

I should try, but I think I'll wait til next year. Need to refine things a little bit and maybe write a few smaller things first.

Besides, the GF would kill me for all the time I'd have to spend doing it.

Jump on in Bront, the water is fine. Seriously, there is no time like the present to get going with it. I've put off versions of this story for more than 10 years telling myself I need to work on it, need to wait a bit, etc. It never happens until you start putting words on paper. It isn't too late to get caught up or even ahead of the daily word count.

I have a book at home (name escapes me right now) that is a book of names for pretty much anything you can imagine. Includes people's first and last names by ethnic group, names for religious orders around the world, names for what you call a group of X animal, and tons of other stuff. When I get home I'll post a link. It was one of the best purchases I have ever made.
