NaNoWriMo 2005 - Who's in?

Welcome to the madness Eris. You'll have no problem catching up.

I'm sitting at just over 18.5k right now. At this rate, I hope to hit 20k before I go to gaming tonight. I hope to hit 25k--30 would be better, but unlikely-- by tomorrow.

Just broke 20k! I'm now sitting at 20746, but probably won't get anymore done even though I'm in an important scene; my wife and daughter just walked in and I have to leave for gaming in about an hour. Oh well, I'm happy.

I finally cracked 1k (1173), and even have an excerpt in my profile on the site.
Those of you who followed the recent Ceramic DM contest might recognize a character or two from my entry. I wasn't going to use that storyline, but then they threatened to hide the coffee. :uhoh:

I relented. After all, I'm a reasonable man. :D

OK, daily total: 10,312 for the day with a confirmed total of 23462.

Showoff. :p

Just passed 25k! I'm really happy how this is going this year.

For those having troubles, I highly suggest participating in the 30 minute word wars. It really has made a difference in my wordcount. For me, it sets a deadline; a short period where I do nothing but write. After each wordwar, I wait fifteen minutes, then start another 30 minute period. Each time I generlaly get between 900-1200 words, occassionally more, occassionally less-- though my numbers seem to be rising. I can start off where I left off or with a fresh chapter. Ideas come quickly and they get put on paper. The best part is it isn't crap.

By following this pattern, I can sit down for two hours, write 1.5 hours with a 30 minute break (15 minutes each 30 mins) and get more than 3000 words done-- not a bad total for the day.

During my 15 minute breaks, I update my wordcount; check forums, email, etc; grab a fresh cup of coffee and set up my next document for the start of the next 30 minutes. It really seems to work well and you can see your progress increase in front of you. I am a word war whore.

Good to see some others are doing this, too. This is my second year, though last year was a fiasco. I have written over 12,700 words already, and hope to get another 3000-5000 done this weekend.

I find that I get a lot done if I just set aside time when I can -- even 15 - 30 minutes -- during the day, then get in a good 1-2 hours at night before I go to bed. Doing that, I can get some 2000 - 5000 words done a day.

11/6 8435. Total 35074. Less than 15k to go to 50k!

Darn you, yangnome! I'm at only 15840-- I still have a good 34,160 words to go! I'm 2160 words behind where I had hoped to be today.... :(

Congratulations on the avalanche o' words!

Damn, yangnome! You make my 4800 seem so paltry! You are definitely on a roll. If you finish 50K before 11/15, keep going and see if you can do 2 NaNoWriMos! :)
