NBA Playoffs, Now Finals

My gripe is the schedule of the finals. For all the regional games, the schedule is 2,2,1,1,1. Which makes sense. But the finals is 2,3,2. I know this is because of travel cost and time, but come on. This really favors the team without home court adv.

So if home team wins the first 5 games, then that puts the team with the better record at a 2-3 disadvantage. That puts the stress and pressure of winning the last two games- where the other team only needs to win one more.

I'm done

I just went back to 1984, and no 6 or 7 game series has ever started like that, so not to worry. ;)

OK- so the Heat got Owned last night. What team doesnt have that happen time to time.

I guess it's time to get critical:

The Heat didnt learn from The laker's mistake of past. The reason they won so many of their championships in the past was that they had good fresh players. A couple years ago, you saw a Lakers team with old legs (Payton, malone, Oneil) go agaisnt a younger, faster and more aggressive teamin the Pistons.

And now the Heat made the same mistake- go out and recruit old, tired legs that used to be the best- but now have to settle as role players.

Players like Payton, Oneil, Mourning, Walker, Shandon and Derek Anderson are all past their prime, and are moving from team to team hoping to win a ring to prove that their career was worth a darn.

HAH!!! they had a good run. and I feel bad for Payton. Its his 16th yera in the league and still no ring. You gotta question how much longer he could hold out before he just throws in the towel and figure like Malone did taht the ring is just out of his reach. Poor guy- I really liked him too.

edit for grammar

Okay, am I little bit crazy for thinking the Heat are done? They completely shut down Dirk and Josh Howard, held the Mavs to 90 points... and lost by ten. Granted, Jason Terry was on fire, but still...

... and it looks like I wasn't crazy. Dirk gets his normal 25+, and the game turns into a blowout.

The Heat have to shoot better at home in Game 3, don't they?

I predict they will, and they'll only lose by 2. :p My prediction for Game 2 was scary close, I predicted a 102-89 Mavs victory, so let's see if I can continue my streak...Dallas 108, Miami 106.

*getting out his broom, remembering last time a Texas center dominated Shaq in the finals*

And your prediction is getting really scary. they won by 2.

And just when everyone was bringoing out the broomw, The Heat go and ruin everything by winning.

snip: schedule 2,3,2 favoring the team without Home court

Hmmm- i know this is just game three, but it is starting to look like my rant is making a little sense. I know- the Heat came home and havign home court and having their backs to the walls, they came out and played to regain their pride- after getting whomped in Dallas.

But you have to question where momentum will come in. If they somehow win game four, you have to thin kthat they WILL win game five to send this back to Dallas just because that is their last game at home, and theer is no possible way that any team wants or will allow another team to beat them in their last home game. there is just a matter of pride taht will not allow it.

It's still too early for me to congratulate Miami, and it is getting impressively hard to typ with my fingers crossed.

I still don't think the Heat win another game, though I appreciate your fandom. :) This was a game they both were supposed to win and had to win, and they barely scratched out a miraculous 4th-quarter comeback.

Once again they showed that they don't have much of a team, just Shaq and Wade, and only Wade was a difference-maker tonight. Damp equalled Shaq, and the last half-quarter proved that the Heat are actually a better team with Shaq on the bench. I wonder if Shaq will see his minutes reduced now?

I think the Mavs' coaching let them down this time. Why not post up Howard on Wade every trip to try and get that sixth foul? Certainly Howard can post up Wade, especially without Shaq backing him up? Then that in bounds lob? Bogus play, man. Avery's awesome, but something went wrong in the last four minutes, and only partly was it the players.

But I'll give Wade credit, he really turned it on tonight. It was good to see one performance like that outta him, but the rest of the team just sorta gave up. They weren't even rotating on those two late Terry jump shots, just sorta letting us shoot. Totally dejected, and I think the Mavs can keep them like that in the next two games. The Heat outscored us by two here, but they haven't shown the ability to consistently stop us or score on us.

I think my 4-1 prediction's looking pretty good still, too, I'll see if I can keep my streak alive by posting a prediction Thursday morning. :)

What? Do you have some kind of voodoo doll that tells you the scores? I want one of those... :D Or perhaps you have crystal balls? you are a dwarf- arent you supposed to be a fighter- not some clairvoyant wiz. Ah man- I want a wiz.

Hmm... since D&D is more important than NBA basketball, I didn't see the game last night. A Final Four game where Syracuse was playing... that'd be a difficult decision.

Have you ever seen a worse team be given a game by league dictate?

Whatever the outcome, I'm done with the NBA again, it's such a fixed league, and I don't really care for that. I just want fair sports, and the NBA does not deliver that.
