This sounds like exactly the sort of product I like. You guys at Necromancer rock! Now if only Bard's Gate would ever come out....;)

Wow, a truely excellent idea. At the start of any new adventure i run the same thing happens i say, "Ok," and imediately the group shouts, "You're in a bar!?" Heh,HEH, HEH!!! It looks like revenge time comin'. :D :p

I'm looking forward to this as well. Necromancer seems to be dropping the standard adventure in favore of sourcebooks and mini-campaign adventures.

Mind you there is nothing wrong with the standard adventure but I think that the market has matured enough to the point where new ideas and sourcebooks are need to help flesh out those ideas. Even the richest adventures tend to have a 'bland' flavor due to not taking advantage of the numerous sourcebooks out there and that's of course done in the favor of not making everyone have each sourcebook.

That's why I like the mini-campaigns. They seem to strike a nice compromise.

John, I agree. It was a submission that sort of came out of the blue. I had tons of products on my schedule already, but this one was so interesting and the writing was so great that I just had to find a way to work it in the schedule. I am really happy with it.

Book of Taverns

As a playtester for this book, I can say without a doubt that this is a terrific resource. Many of these taverns are not only great for first time encounters (yes, as already mentioned sweet revenge for the 'we-meet-in-a-bar' mentality) but they're rich enough to provide a re-occuring locale that will be the first stop characters make whenever they come to town.
This is a terrific book and one that no DM will find disappointing. The biggest trick? Keeping it out of your player's hands. :D

So when is this puppy hitting the shelves again? This looks like a very useful, very utility needed book.

What's next, guard stations? Gambling Halls? Churches?

I think GreenPiece over at the Necro web site said Dec 6 (he's the necro webmaster and mentioned that he had seen it in the WW online catalog.) But, don't quote on me that :)
