Need a 3e monster, QUICK!

What about Sumonsters? (isn't that what they were called? You know, the nasty psionic monkeys from 1E that I think showed up in the PsiHB) I always liked them, especially after the trouble my group had with the one in the original Temple of Elemnetal Evil.

Not a conversion, but it is a new monster.

Start with the Carnivorous Ape. Adjust the intelligence to suit you. Add Regen 2 or 3. Give them the ability to speak. Up the CR by +1. Voila.

P.S. - According to my university, correctly using the word "voila" accounts for roughly $57 of the tuition I paid to take Introductory French. :D

The only book I have is the MM. Of course, I have access to The Creature Catalog (in fact, I owe them a monster that, someday, I'll get around to detailing).

So, from those two sources, which monster, stock, most fits the description given?

Given the nature of the project, I really wanted to use stock monsters, but I may resort to building my own.
