Need a Voodoo type class

Don't underestimate using a straight cleric with the right domains chosen. At the heart, Vodoo is a religion with its own pantheon of gods.

A Witch or Shaman is not a bad choice, though I'm sure that real Witches (which is a real religion, ableit a modern one) and Shamans (which is a real religion from Siberia, albeit one not practiced any more so far as I know) would not agree that Vodoo priests and priestesses (for that is what they believe themselves to be) have the same worship practices, beliefs, and gods as they do.

However, Vodoo is certainly of the class of religions informally called 'animistic' (though the term is so broad it probably incompasses even Christianity) and 'shamanistic' (again applying the term broadly even incompasses Catholocism), and for those religions 'Shaman' is a better choice of 'cleric' than 'Cleric' is.

My personal preference on Shaman is the Green Ronin version, but YMMV.

Problems I have with using the clric class for this character. Not NEARLY enough skill points, and I don't want this guy to have a 24 Int. He needs those points for Heal, Alchemy, Profession (herbalist), Profession (poisonmaker), Spellcraft, as well as any other interests, like Knowledge's, Scry, etc.

Also, heavily armored doesn't fit the concept, so the medium and heavy armor proficiency's are wasted. I never really liked domains and domain powers either.

Also, I'm going through spell lists and I like the druid spell list better than the clerics, with a few changes. I think wither way, I'm going with a custom class based off the druid with some powers and spells from clerics and wizards.

Bring out the voodoo

There is actually an entire chapter devoted to two basic voodoo character classes, a few PrCs, voodoo magic systems and the like in the up coming Monkey God Enterprises book For Who the Willow Weeps: The Explorer's Guide to Swamps.

Humm... really, if you want a fast & easy custom spell list you may want to take a look at the Witch in the DMG. Focuses on a lot of inderect spells, curses, enchantments with an affinty for nature spells and shapechanges... Really just swap out the shape-related spells for Summon Monster/Nature's Ally and a bit more access to divinations and you would have something quite similar to what you're asking for...
