Need ENWorlds worldy liquor knowledge

Arrived at the grindstone today and the boss brings out some bottles of wine. I think she realized last week was a truly "f'ed" up week and wanted to try to smooth things over. Then again, she's crazy.

Anyway, I grabbed the bottle that looked weird, she said it was from Austria.

From google I've been able to determine this is probably a distilled beverage, from fruit, especially since the bottle doesn't have a cork, (which also makes me leery of trying it).

What is Nussgeist? Nussgeist reines Fruchtdestillat. There is more info on the label such as the phone number and possibly address of the house/family that distilled it.

I'd appreciate any help :)

Your google-foo is strong. :)
From what I found, you are correct. A rough translation is that it is distilled fruit spirits. I'd try it :D

There are a few people here who speak German though. Maybe they can help.

The others pretty much have the right of it...

Nussgeist = nut spirit/ghost*
reines = pure/clean/clear
Fruchtdestillat = fruit distillate

*If they mean spirit as in "liquor", this is a really weird way of saying it in German... Normally, they'd use Alkohol, Spirituosen or Schnapps. Liqeuer would be Likör.

Nut makes sense I think. The whole label is like this:

Ein Likor aus dem Hause

KREILMAYER

then it pictures a tree, followed by

NUSSGEIST
reines Fruchtdestillat

Familie KREILMAYER
Himbeerland, Abfindungsbrennerei
Gfereth 7, 4631 Krenglbach
TEL: 07249/46795

For the record, Morrus just gave the best advice... Try a bit.

And then try it again... Sometimes you don't taste the flavors quite right the first time.

Ein Likor aus dem Hause

KREILMAYER

"A Liqeuer from the House [of] Kreilmayer"

NUSSGEIST

"Nut-Spirit" (Likely the name of the liqeuer.)

reines Fruchtdestillat

"Pure Fruit-Distillate" (It's probably some sort of brandy or liqeuer... Think of it along the lines of Amaretto or Grand Marnier. If it was wine, you see something like "qualitats Wein" instead.)

Familie KREILMAYER
Himbeerland, Abfindungsbrennerei
Gfereth 7, 4631 Krenglbach
TEL: 07249/46795

The address and phone number of the distillery, run by the Kreilmayer Family.

OSTERREICHISCHES ERZEUGNIS

"Austrian Product"

and then, try it a few more times... after awhile, you won't really care whether you liked it or not. ;)

And then if you're still not sure... Mix it with cranberry juice. Cranberry juice is strong enough to cover the flavor of practically any kind of liquor. :p
