Need help finding a race for a Warlock

First Post
Hey all I am creating a back-up character for our Dragonlance campaign and I created a 1rogue/9 warlock and the concept is an information gather by both stealth and Intimidating. The only is I can not find the right race for him. All core books plus Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance (of course) are allow but Eberron is not. I am looking for a race intimidating, spooky and creepy all at once. Any suggestions?

Thanks

1 : Consider Scout 1 / Warlock 9 instead; Skirmish damage is easier to generate than Sneak Attack.

2 : Human, Halfling or Tiefling are your main choices -- no-one has Warlock as a favored class, so you'll need someone with Rogue as a favored class instead.

Tiefling has a +1 LA, though.

I do second using Scout 1, instead of Rogue 1. Skirmish is usually much easier to attain than sneak attack.
You do loose out on interaction skills with swapping scout for rogue, but warlock helps make up for that.
Another option for the skills is be human and get able learner.

How wedded to Rogue are you?

There's the Ghostwise Halfling (FRCS pg 17-18). What's creepier than Telepathy (close range, but still)?

You would have to be Barbarian 1/Warlock 9 since Barbarian is their favored class. That still gives you Intimidate as a class skill, plus it would give you +10' movement. That +1d6 Sneak Attack probably won't do much for you at at 10th level anyway.

You would lose some skill points and the +1 to saves as well, but it gives you a +1 BAB and and extra 6 HPs (assuming you 'took' Barbarian as your first level).

Whisper gnomes from Races of Stone are about as good as it gets for stealth. The Cha penalty and the small size don't help for intimidating, but extra Dex and Con are never a bad thing...

I just made up a strongheart halfling warlock, he's working pretty well, enjoying the bonus feat. I really wanted to go with a chaos gnome, but I couldn't get around the LA, even for a fake caster.

What he said, Scout is lots better than rogue for warlocks. You might even think about 5 levels of scout for evasion and Improved Skirmish, your overall damage will be higher than a singleclass warlock.

Race: Human for the extra feat.

Hasn't this been dealt with 10 times in the past? Warlocks need Con>Dex>Cha, the rest is optional. Small size is good, as is no racial HD, and low LA (only exception being the Pixie)

No LA: human, gnome, halfling, stronheart halfling, water halfling, desert kobold, Elf subraces without Con penalty, kenku, eventually dwarf, warforged or whisper gnome if you don't use invocations allowing a save.

Low LA: Fire mephling, hobgobelin, chaos gnome, catfolk

High LA: Pixie (Rocks. Seriously.)

I'd put Int into the range of important ablity scores. At least that's what I focussed with my Warlock, since he also got some extra class skills to be really good at the social skills...
