Need help to Create a new characters

Hi !

I'd like to create a new characters : a half-elf (half-drow?? pehaps...) priest of Savras (god of fate, divination and truth). We're playing in the third level. Why not to give him two monk's levels or is it better to remain a priest lvl 3 or another idea ?

Here are my statistics: 12- 14-14-14-15-16

I'd like to become a divine oracle. But what feats and skills to choose? What domains to take? What domains must I take? I thought of taking "fate", "knowledge", "travel" or "balance".

Anybody would be to help me?

I don't know if "divine oracle" is a class you have in mind, or if you just want the character to be able to predict the future. In either case, you probably want to stick with straight Cleric and not multi-class. If you want the character to focus on spell-casting, multi-classing with monk will just slow you down.

A 3rd-level cleric gets access to 2nd-level spells, which is nice, and a cleric is perfectly good at combat.

I'm not familiar with some of these domains you've listed (what books are they from?) but I would guess Knowledge and Fate would be the best choices for someone who wants to be an oracle.

Does that help?

Dito, for above. You can have a mod. slide it to another for you if you like. Once question, how new are you to D&D?

(By the way, you can also take a test to see what PC you would play best. They're all over the web. http://neppyman.irulethe.net/dndwho/ Here is an alright test for you if ya' like. Just use the URL and past it into your address bar.)

I don't think two monk levels are a good idea. Giving up two levels of spellcasting hurts. As a half-elf, especially with your charisma, you've got the makings of a diplomat, so take advantage of that.

For feats, I'd recommend getting your required Skill Focus out of the way right now. That leaves one feat. Since you're going to a pclass that doesn't give turning (which means your turning ability will quickly become useless), it might be a good idea to pick up something that lets you use your turn attempts. Examples would be Divine Spell Power or the Divine Metamagic, but there are many others. If you like Divine Metamagic, take the regular metamagic now, and set up for Divine Metamagic later. Another good feat option, though it doesn't make use of your turning, is Craft Wondrous Item. That depends on your DM giving you enough down time to craft items, though. Check on that before you commit.

For skills, you get 4 per level. Knowledge (Religion) is required, put 6 ranks in that. Diplomacy is a good idea, put 6 ranks in that. If you take the Knowledge domain, put 5 ranks in Knowledge (nobility and royalty) to get a +2 synergy bonus to Diplomacy. Put 6 ranks in Concentration, you won't regret it. That leaves either 1 or 6 (depending on whether or not you spent on Know (N&R). Heal is a good option, Sense Motive is a good option too, though cross class. If you have the Knowledge domain, any other Knowledge is a good option. Or depending on your campaign you may wish to spend them on "background" skills - things that are more or less useless, but reflect your character's history.

For domains, I absolutely recommend Travel. It's one of the strongest and most interesting domains available. The other domain choice I don't have a strong opinion on.

I can't see much benefit from taking the monk levels. Your probably better staying with pure cleric until you PrC. Although you could take a level in sorcerer and then go on cleric. The sorcerer level would give you a lot of basic detect spell. You would lose the armour benefits of the cleric , so unless you went with missile weapons, you'd be non combat character.
As to domains. Knowledge , to give you lots of knowledge based skills. Fate is also a great domain.
