Need help with AoW-Wind Duke based character

Gwy,

Hodgepodge. While I don't have the issue in front of me, the races in question were more a "convergence" of normal humaniods with outsider backgrounds.

Azerblooded are a race of dwarf/azer hybrids (although hybrid is misleading since I pretty sure they can reproduce.)

Celdrin are a race of elf (I believe either gold or moon) mating with Eladrin (usually Firre).

I forget the name but there's a race of halflings that mated with genies (I believe djinni but I could be wrong.)

And finally a race of goblins mated with (not real surprising when you think about it), bargest(sp). I'm sure some where in the nine hells, Asmody is laughing his ass off at Malibugist(sp) on this one.

For the sake of simplicity, how about an Air Genasi Ranger/Cleric and then head into the Windwalker PrC from Faiths and Pantheons?

Tweak some of the PrC flavor to be a bit more Wind-Dukey and you're set. Even the Smite Fiend feature fits, given their staunch opposition of chaos.

Dude, I have know, just how many of the other PCs died in the fight at Spire of Long Shadows (That's the Spire and home of Kyuss boss power base.) I mean I've only read it like 5 times but each time I see a new and horrifically wonderful way for a TPK, a partial TPK or even just like two TPKs.

What's the party's current make up and I would suggestion Shugjena(sp) as a core class for you.

Actually, noone died. We had 3 sessions to complete this portion of the adventure. I missed the middle section so I can't give you the details. There are many opportunities for a TPK in this portion. I would say that AoW teaches you to be very cautious once you reach the Spire. We stick together and avoid being separated. I have noticed tyhat as we die, people have begun shifting characters to more spellcaster types. I think this may have been subconscious. Fighters have to engage the Kyuss spawn and put themselves at risk for infection by the worms. The party is as follows:

All 15th level
Gnome sorcerer
Human druid
Elf cleric
Half orc dragon touched (or something similar since I not sure exactly what book he is from)
Human psychic from psychic handbook.

I had a great idea for a Human Sorcerer with the Air Bloodline/Battledancer (from Dragon Compendium) but then I remembered that the Battledancer is Chaotic only. Still, its possibly something to talk to you DM about. If you go that route I would suggest your starting feat be Air Bloodline (DrComp), Precocious Apprentice (from Complete Arcane - allows you to gain use of a 2nd level spell that you can cast with a DC 8 check - take any thing that has an air descriptor), at 3rd level take Hurricane Breath (CompMage) to allow you nock a single creature w/in 30ft back with a gust of wind as a bull rush, and once you have 5th level spells take Borne Aloft (CompMage) to let you fly in 30 ft steps (you have to land each time). The Battle Dancer levels would give you your Cha bonus to AC and some interesting movement based abilities. Its by no means a power build, but it would fit the flavor of what you are talking about very well.

When I wanted to make one as an NPC for my game, I took a regular ol' elf and applied the half-elemental (air) template from Manual of the Planes. This gave some munchkiny stat bonuses along with a bunch of air-related SLAs.

After that I just leveled him up normally.

Bo,

*can understand the other adventures in AoW path do teach caution* But I still have a hard time believe that not one of the PCs died.

Warning! Spoiler below!

I mean the fact that you fight two Worm Knights, several of Kyuss spawned bugs, not to mention the Overworms PLUS the Harbinger himself... Just seems like SOMEONE had to die.

*end of Spoiler*

Still nice see people being cautious and all. I do think though I'm a little surprised there are no "meleers" in the party (besides the Cleric obviously) *thinks the half orc "dragon touched is either a dragon shaman or a dragonfire adept* Does he have a good number of breath weapons?

I believe his is a dragonfire adept. He has a ton of breath weapons. The cleric is a cleric of Heironeous and is pretty kick but with turning. We also have 5-7 players if you include NPCs at one time which reduces the risk for a TPK as I think the adventure is written for 4 PCs.

Our party can lob a bunch damage from a distance fairly easily. My psychic character can also teleport people within direct vision fairly easily. The cleric and dragonfire adept have been teleported out of the grapple attacks from a number of creatures from the spire.

Warning spoilers:

The kyuss knights were tough. I missed some of the kyuss bug combat. The Harbinger was a bit of luck. Our cleric rolled a 20 on a turning check with a turning enhancing magic item and tied the roll exactly needed to turn him (near impossible)

*agog on that last little spoiler* Wow that is...lucky.

But I can see with more party members the chances of survival do go up. That being said, don't expect the module after this next one to be any less difficult. I will also say good luck cause if you guys got through Spires of Long Shadow pretty well unscathed (as it appears), I doubt luck will stand much longer on your side.

Warning! spoilerific!
The fact is once you find out more about Balarake(sp), the NPC Manazorian/Tenser told you about, the greater the risks even with more NPCs. This is especially true in the place you go to find out more about the last encounter with Kyuss and his minions.

Dragonfire adept eh. Nice. Those are a better version of Warlocks. Probably helps a lot with those breath weapon attacks.
