I am working on a very short (1-3 session) campaign to try out D20 Modern. I wanted to go for a cliched cop/buddy action movie feel so I came up with this idea:
Federal marshall Kevin Cisco has been working for years to bring down a powerful criminal organization known as The Syndicate. When a mid-level gangster known only as "Cool" is collared by the FBI he gets his chance. He is sent to offer Cool a deal if the gangster fingers Syndicate heavies. Unfortunately, before he gets there, Cool posts bail and runs.
Cisco's only chance of finding Cool lies in teaming up with the gizzled John Walsh, an ex-cop freelance bounty hunter working for Cool's bail bondsman. John Walsh stands to make $50,000 on this one, enough to retire early.
The only problem: If Cisco brings in Cool, Walsh doesn't get his money. If Walsh captures Cool, the gangster will probably be killed by The Syndicate before Cisco can get him into protective federal custody.
What I need help with is a few plot devices to force Cisco and Walsh to work together to locate Cool. What do you guys think?
