need ideas for roleplaying cleric

Okay here goes. I am currently playing an eighth level cleric with magic and travel domains. In our last session he lost his left hand(so no longer able to cast spells requiring the hands). Right now i am playing it as he is a little freaked by the loss and a little paranoid. But i was wondering if anyone had any ideas for the future.

As for why he is paranoid: So far he has been hit with two traps(both of which were set off by the party rogue who has since died) the second of these traps killed my character but they were able to save him. He on the other hand could not save the rogue from the gang of bugbears that killed him. due to the loss of the rogue i opened a chest that was trapped and said trap removed said hand. So maybe you see why i am paranoid.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Your cleric can still cast spells with his hand since somatic components only require 1 hand. Perhaps you could try find someone that can fashion a weapon on your nub(not a hook..arr matey), but whatever weapon you had before. If your DM doesn't think you should be able to weild it properly ask if it could be considered an exotic weapon prof.

Other than that, probably trying to get his hand back, oh and rogue too I guess.

Regenerate is a 7th level spell - so only a few more levels to go before you get your hand back!

In the meantime, find traps and silence are second level spells, and dispel magic is a 3rd level spell. Those should serve to cover your rogue's absence for a while. And gentle repose is second level, and raise dead is fifth level... so it won't be long at all before you can get your rogue back - assuming that you have the body, and he wants to return, of course.

Good Luck!

you mean you have been given an opportunity to actually use my favorite weapon? and you're not jumping all over it? man i wish i could use the stump knife from the forgotten realms campaign setting without writing it into the lev 1 character background myself. colour me green friend, green indeed. never need quickdraw again. i think it's an exotic weapon feat though.

I think you're asking for roleplaying suggestions, so....

I think his response is normal for right now. Eventually he'll probably revert to type -- cheerful if he's cheerful, bitter if he's a bitter sort -- you get the idea. He should definitely be more cautious - invest heavily in 10' poles and knock scrolls!

Cheers
Nell.

As it was said above you only one free hand to cast. Turn your disability into an advantage. Check out the alternate sketches if Tordek. He's working a cool version of the locked gauntlet with a few different back up weapons.

As to your paranoia, who wouldn't be worried. Take charge "I aint opening any doors or treasure chest. You want healing you better make sure that I don't take any damage"

Ash from Army of Darkness - Hand of steel!

I was actually thinking about this idea and the dm mentioned that in an old book (he thinks it was drow of the underdark) that it mentions magical limbs made of adamantine.

as for the others i did not know that spells only needed one hand. So thanks much. I am have since the incident stated that i am not opening any thing else. The wand idea would work aside from the fact that up to date i have lost all my items and the party's pool of items three times in unfortunate circumstances.

Thanks again and if anyone else has any ideas id love to hear them
