Need Info on Books

Captain Tagon

First Post
There's a couple of RPG books I'm looking at, but my budget is limited. So I just wanted to get some opinions on a few books I'm looking at. If anyone has experience with these books let me know what you thought about them.

GURPS 4 Edition
Discworld RPG
Space Munchkin

I have GURPS 4e and the Discworld RPG. GURPS 4e is a good step from 3e, with some nice rules, but it's a bit bland to read. Since there is very little implied setting, there's no flavor in thee rules. And, as with all Steve Jackson books, it has too many exclamation marks for my taste! (The exclamation marks aren't a big deal, I just find the over use a bit funny. :) )

The Discworld RPG is GURPS based, so you really need one of the GURPS base books to use it. Given the changes from 3e to 4e, I would say most everything can be used almost as is, but there may be some changes that are needed. And all the NPC point costs will be a bit off, as will be the racial templates. As far as the book itself, I think it's a good read, with some good flavor. It does a decent job of capturing the Discworld feel.

One more tidbit about GURPS Discworld (which also own and enjoy, though I've never used it): it includes the GURPS Lite rules, so technically you can play it without any other GURPS books.

All of the Munchkin books seemed really overpriced to me based on their size and (what I imagine to be) stretching one joke further than it probably needs to go. Having never done more than skim them, take that with a shaker of salt. ;)
