Need opinion on new character race.....The Untouched

The concept behind the race is that they are a human offshoot that is pretty much outside the grasp of magic. Their body is kinda like a dead magic zone in itself.

Untouched Racial Stats could be:

- base speed = 30ft
- normal vision
- +2 racial bonus to Repair and Use Device checks (their lack of magic has developed an innate understanding of all things mechanical.)
- Arcane Immunity : They are immune to all arcane magic spells, abilities, and effects. In addition, the cannot benifit from any arcane magic spell, ability, or effect. (i.e. They can shrug off a fireball spell without taking any damage but the Vorpal Longsword + 5 they just found acts like a mundane Masterwork Longsword in their hands.--- although the weapon would still strike creatures with damage reduction).
- Divine Resistance : At creation, each Untouched must select two clerical domains that function fully aganist the character and two that do not funcion at all on the character. Any other Divine spell that is not from one of these domains must succeed a Spell Resistance check with a DC of 15 + Character Level of the Untouched...Divine magical items will work normally for the Untouched.

This would be very nasty when combined with the Forsken class from MotW. But nifty idea.

What ECL mod were you thinking? I'd definitely go for +2 or +3, arcane immunity is mucho powerful, and the two domains still work for AND you pick them is not much of a disadvantage.

So, every picks the Hwealing domain that works for them. I think you should make it so magical healing does not work on them. THat would be a serious racial flaw.

Without magic you realize these people can not take out something with DR unless they have a huge damage cabibility.

I've been thinking about stripping magic altogether from them...and the just allowing them to pick 2 domains...andf divine spells from those domains can effect them if the SR 15+Character level is overcome...everything else will not effect them...does that sound any better??

uh - I don't know abut this...

This sounds a whole lot like infinite SR vs the wizard with only a slight disadvantage for one, and what happens if someone is using the Vorpal Longsword +5 against them? Do magic items function against the character? Only certain items?

- Divine Resistance : At creation, each Untouched must select two clerical domains that function fully aganist the character and two that do not funcion at all on the character. Any other Divine spell that is not from one of these domains must succeed a Spell Resistance check with a DC of 15 + Character Level of the Untouched...Divine magical items will work normally for the Untouched.

First off, one of these domains is ALWAYS going to be healing. It is a nice idea - but not a good idea.

I really do feel like this race is being designed to shaft arcane casters however. I would think that 15+ character level SR (divine or arcane shouldn't matter) vs all spells attempted (for good or ill) against the character would be far more "balanced".

Add the restrictions that the class can never cast spells, and that magic items don't function for them as if they were in an AMF - and you have a preety good idea.

Arcane Immunity alone - as written ... is like an ECL of +5 ... Divine Resistance is another +3 or so - as they can still choose to be healed... way too strong to be in the hands of a PC - and awfully strong in the hands of an NPC.
