Need some DM help.

Thanks for all the help. Mad Hamish that is definitely the spell he used. And no he is inno way wu jen. In fact I strictly prohibited oriental theme as they are on a western continent. I said they could cross class when they actually went there. As for the players. They were lvl 6 at the time. They are now lvl 7. We roll stats. He is a very very lucky roller. So he had great int good con and str and decent dex. I dont have them on me right now but I know they were excellent. Answering other questions. He has a mithril breastplate. He also has a minor rod of extend spell(Of course I hadn't approved it since I didn't even know what he was).I will let him keep his char but I will be using him as a guinea pig to test out all my anti caster strategies. He just took a 1 lvl dip into magus so now he can channel spells into his weapon. He can also cast with 1 hand and fight with the other now. He has combat casting so his con checks for hi spells are easy to make saves for. I will be testing those limits. I'll let him have his minor victory but as a consequence he will be specifically targeted for a while. To let him know you don't pull one over on a DM and not get in trouble for it.You know I never used readied actions. That will go really well with the sniper ambush I have planned. Thanks for all the help guys. Will give you more when I get his spell list.

You know usually I dont question him. I have seen him roll really good before. However considering the nature of his char I might have to make him re roll those....

If you're to the point of having him reroll stats because you don't trust him, I'd say at minimum have him make a completely new PC subject to prior approval by you before game and go over it before allowing anything in your game.

I would have booted him the group when he brought a character class you'd forbidden and snuck it by you through deception. He's obviously got no problem lying and cheating - life's too short to deal with that in leisure activities.

You've said that you guys are all friends, but honestly, this kid sounds like he's being a dick and doing it on purpose. You said that everybody in the group (at least that's how it sounded to me) is against the way that you're DM'ing because they want to play by a different set of rules. If everyone is teaming up against you and making things more difficult for you as the DM, it might be time to find a new group. Or at least start looking at options.

You know that expression, "you make your own luck"? I think that might apply in this case :).

There's no such thing as luck in dice rolls, of course: instead, there's:
1) Coincidence;
2) Confirmation bias; and
3) Cheating.

Normally when I think of someone as a good roller, I chalk it up to 1 or 2. With this guy, 3 is sounding unfortunately plausible. (Obviously I'm just some schmoe on the internet who doesn't know him, so take that with a big grain of salt).

In any case, though, his past rolls can only help you predict his future rolls if he's made past rolls via cheating; otherwise, they provide no indication as to whether future (or current) rolls are legit.

There are different levels of "legit". If you roll enough times, you'll eventually have a set of very good rolls. "I rolled them honestly" followed by "after rolling and discarding several hundred others" somehow reduces the "honesty" involved.

If everyone in my group were telling me, explicitly or implicitly, that they didn't like the way I run the game, I'd be inclined to let one of them run it.

Its not that they don't like the way I run it. In fact right now my campaign wich I have only been running for a month surpassed the other guys campaign that has been running 3 months and his brothers witch died out after 2 sessions. They like alot of hat I do. And im not the one that made the low arcane thing in the first place. The player in question and his brother put the idea out there when we made the world (Incarnium) that it was low magic. Now so far EVERY single group has manged an arcane caster from the get go. I got kind of sick of it so I started 1 with no arcane AT ALL. If they want to increase the arcane content world wide then their next encounter will be a ritually buffed squad of warlocks. Lets see how they like them apples. But regardless other than the brothers none of the party members knew what he had.I've talked to them since and all of them agree it was a dirty move and it even made a few mad. SO I asked them there opinion and they said "Well we can let him keep it.Just show him the consequences. We'll back you up a little " So that how it is gentlemen. He wants to hop in as a rule breaker and steal the party lime light? He shall get his wish. There is no I in team i suppose. ;)

1.) Lies.
2.) Damn lies, and
3.) Statistics. :p

The Auld Grump

Yeah I agree. I just suck at caster play so I have a hard time understanding the limitation of spells. Part of the problem is I started the party of with a NO arcane restiction. I told them later I mwould let them multiclass or give them an arcane follower when it seemed appropriate in our low arcane world. He showed up at a session and asked if he could jump in. I asked what he was. He said he was a dwarf with a battle hammer and armor. I assumed that meant a fighter. So even though I knew he was a major min maxor the other martial players arent too shabby so I figured it would be ok. I didnt even know he was a caster until he cast his first spell.... then he just laughed and said he hadnt lied to me. It was a real kick in the pants seeings as he himself is a dm.

This guy does not respect you and has the potential to destroy your game. The rest of the players need you to exercise your legitimate authority as GM. You need to at least ban this PC and keep a very close eye on his new PC, requiring a full character sheet submitted in advance. You should also enforce the no-casters rule. The best thing would be to list a limited set of options and disallow everything else. He can knuckle under or walk.

Seriously, you may not want to risk losing a player, but unless you do this your game will collapse anyway.
