Need Sorcerer build ideas please

I would think a fey-ri would be a great evil sorcerer.

A fey'ri would be cool...as might a fire genasi (though, I think the genasi gets a -2 to Cha, so maybe it's not the best choice). And both have built-in FR-based flavor, and not such insane LAs that they'd totally nerf the casting ability.

The -2 to Charisma is why I didn't propose the Tiefling, which would otherwise be a cool choice. :)

If it doesn't necessarily have to be an evil race, star elves from Unapproachable East are a pretty fun race and rather well-suited for the sorcerer, too.

Hey all,

I am getting ready to play in an evil aligned group in a new FR game. I want to play a sorcerer, but have never played any of the arcane spellcasters. We are starting between 5th and 7th level.
I personally have this idea about a ray-attack focused sorcerer: high Dex, Weapon Focus (ray), scorching ray. ray of enfeeblement, disintegrate, etc.

How about a mephling (IIRC, from Players Guide to the Planes)
And then could uses the sorcerer element speciailization from one of the recent dragon mags
I think Mephlings get a bonus to Chr (at least some of them)
And being small can be handy for a spell caster

I'll second this suggestion. Mephlings are a small, LA +1 race. Play an Air Mephling sorcerer, and you'll get a 10ft. (perfect) fly speed, a breath weapon, and a +1 caster level boost on any [Air] spells you cast. Plenty exotic, and you'll actually get to play a sorcerer rather than a neat monster.

I've always liked elvish sorcerers because of the longbow/rapier/shswd/longbow/shortbow thing. It really improves their combat prowess...especially with True Strike.

But you wanted exotic...

If you've got access to the XPH, consider this: all of the races introduced within are natural psionics, and as such, will eventually let you qualify for the Pyrokinetic PrCl...without ever taking a single level in a psionic class. A few levels of that will let you cast firebolts at will, have flaming weapons, summon a flaming whip, and so forth. Sorcerer/Pyrokineticist is NASTY...especially if you give him Alchemy skills to add firebombs to his repetoir.

In particular:

A half-giant Sorcerer could use weapons of size class L, due to their Powerful Build characteristic. So even if he only uses the normal complement of Simple weapons, he could usea a large one...1d10 Morningstar or 1d12 Hvy crossbow sound nice?

A githzerai Sorcerer would have a GREAT dex bonus. Hard to hit = hard to kill.

A Thri-Kreen Sorcerer's multiple arms, natural AC and uncanny movement abilities would also make it quite the threat.

And so on...
