STAR WARS - TWILIGHT OF THE EMPIRE
Five years have passed since the BATTLE OF ENDOR. And while the EMPEROR, and his dark apprentice, DARTH VADER, were killed, and the second DEATH STAR was destroyed, the galactic civil war is far from over.
A REGENT sits on the throne on CORUSCANT, where the remnants of the IMPERIAL FLEET gathered soon after the battle and regrouped. The uprisings on the capital planet may have toppled the statue of the Emperor, but such resistance was quickly and efficiently put down by imperial troops. CORUSCANT remains fully under control of the EMPIRE.
The wounded EMPIRE has begun to consolidate its holdings in the CORE region of space, while the fledgling NEW REPUBLIC, under the rule of Chancellor MON MOTHMA, seeks more and more worlds to join its cause of freedom. Both are in an arms race to deploy deadly new starships. Each sees the other as a threat that must be eliminated. Meanwhile, Admiral HAN SOLO commands the NEW REPUBLIC FLEET from his flagship NOVA JUSTICE.
On the jungle moon of YAVIN IV, LUKE SKYWALKER has established a new JEDI ACADEMY. He believes that only with the power of fully trained JEDI KNIGHTS can the EMPIRE be driven from its places of power, and can freedom and justice be restored to the galaxy. His brightest pupil, sister LEIA ORGANA SOLO, has taken her place in the academy as a JEDI MASTER. The establishment of the new academy has brought several Jedi out of hiding. Together these JEDI MASTERS train a new generation of JEDI KNIGHTS to be the guardians of peace and justice for the NEW REPUBLIC.
