Netbook of Feats looking for Cover artist

The Netbook of Feats is a free PDF publication of d20 feats available at www.netbookoffeats.org . Our netbook is very popular and used by gamers all around the world. We try to maintain professional standards and our work has been reprinted by many other d20 publishers.

This year we are looking to create a professional looking cover for our book and we would like to commission an illustration for it. Since we are a volunteer group and make no money from our product or website we can't pay top dollar, but we do want to compensate the artist for their work to keep things professional.

We are willing to pay $100 for an original, high quality B&W or Color illustration. We don't want exclusive rights to the image, but because we have a free product you need to agree to allow the image to be reproduced without restriction as a part of the Netbook and allow us to use it for promotional purposes. We would like to have the finished piece by June at the latest so we can have it ready by Gencon 2003.

We are selective about the artwork we use in the netbook, and while we aren’t necessarily looking for a "big name" artist, we are looking for something of the quality you would find on a professional product. So we either want someone who is new but talented, or a pro who wants to do a fairly quick and fun project for a good cause.

Specifics: Our published image is going to be about 6" by 6" so we want something that looks good at that size. We want to make a play on the word "Feats" by featuring "Feet" in the illustration. The heart of the image would be a half-orc adventurer seated with his feat propped up in front of him as if he were relaxing in a tavern after a long adventure.. So the feet would be in the foreground and the rest of him in the background. We will position the image so that it appears he is resting his feet on our title; "Netbook of Feats". If possible we would like to have a companion on either side, perhaps a hobbit on one side and an elf on the other. That would give a wide variety of feet on display. We would like the characters to look like they are relaxing and having a good time letting their feet take a break after a long adventure. We're also open to other ideas and variations on this if the artist has good ideas.

Contact: If you are interested please contact me at sigtrent@attbi.com or call at 206-525-9056. Please send an example of your work or a URL where I can check it out. I will answer every inquiry personally. We will select an artist by Febuary 15th unless we fail to find someone suitable.

Thanks everyone

I've gotten a great responce. Lots of talented folks. Due to this I'm going to stop considering candidates on Friday the 24th and choose an artist over the weekend.
